Magistrates were told that a defendant was unable to appear in court because he had broken his legs and punctured a lung in a car crash in Wales.

A friend of Jarrad Marsh, 27, rang the court to say he could not appear because of the accident in Aberystwyth.

Marsh, of Calder Close, Grantham, is accused of sexual assault at the Blue Bull pub in Grantham on December 2.

Magistrates adjourned the case until February 4. Marsh is on bail on condition he does not contact two named persons.
