Rage caused a man to get out of his car at 11pm, walk down a driveway and punch through a dining room window, Grantham Magistrates’ Court heard.

Mark Reeve, 24, admitted criminal damage and was ordered to pay £160 to fix the window, once he is released from prison.

Rory Macmillan, defending, said: “What he says is that he had been to Skegness with his friends and was driving back to Derby through Grantham at which point he was having a heated argument with his friend.

“He asked the driver to stop because he was so wound up.

“Then he ran down the drive and punched a window.”

Mr Macmillan said Reeve, of Cowsley Road, Chaddesden, Derby, did not intend to cause any damage and was shocked when the window broke.

He added: “It’s something he did in the heat of the moment and he regrets his actions massively.”

Chairman of magistrates Amanda Brown said: “You must pay compensation to these people who were inconvenienced by this stupid piece of activity.”
