A 19-year-old was arrested after he was aggressive and abusive to police officers on a night out in Grantham.

Benjamin Lee Piper, 19, of Canberra Crescent, Grantham, admitted being drunk and disorderly in Westgate on November 1.

Prosecuting, Jim Clare told the court that Piper, who had no previous convictions, was seen by police outside Faces nightclub at 3am being aggressive and held back by a female. He was drunk and repeatedly swearing.

Piper was led away by officers to stop him from getting into a fight. He was taken to a van to calm him down, but he was still aggressive, swearing and being abusive. This continued until he was arrested and then taken to the police station where he was still making threats to officers.

Fining Piper £40 with £40 costs, District Judge John Stobart said: “That makes it a very expensive drink and if police officers lead you away and tell you to go home then the best thing for you to do is to go home.”
