Police are warning householders to be vigilant after an incident in a village near Grantham.

Yesterday morning (August 22) in Dry Doddington a young white male, aged about 14, called at an address asking questions regarding whether a camper van parked on the drive was for sale. Other properties with motorhomes or similar vehicles had cards left asking to be contacted if they were interested in selling them.

The male left soon after being spoken to and got in to a white Transit van, driven by a second person.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said: “This type of incident is a common tactic linked with distraction thefts or gathering information on possible future targets of theft. By having a business card or similar to hand, when challenged the visitor to your property can give a reason as to why they have called.”

If anyone has had a similar card left recently or has seen a young male and transit van loitering in village locations call police on 101 to report the circumstances, quoting incident 148/22/08/2016.
