COMPENSATION totaling £350 must be paid to a town jewellers after a man attacked the store’s front window.

Aaron Kelly, of Welland Court, Grantham, got into an argument with his then girlfriend before losing his cool, picking up an object and throwing it at the window of Houghton Jewellers at the junction of Westgate and Dysart Road.

Rob Arthur, defending, said: “He accepts he has lost his temper. He was in drink. He did not want to hit the female in anger so picked up the item and threw it at the window.

“He accepts the owner of the business should not be out of pocket.”

Kelly admitted criminal damage and was ordered to pay £350 in compensation but was spared costs and a fine.
