Tensions are running high in Bottesford as posters advertising a public meeting about a precept rise by the parish council are being illegally torn down.

The area’s Neighbourhood Watch group has issued a warning following the removal of notices publicising a meeting at Bottesford Cricket Club tomorrow evening (Friday) at 7pm, where villagers will be demanding answers from parish councillors on a 116 per cent rise in just two years.

A message from the Bottesford Parish Neighbourhood Watch read: “Notices are being posted around the village to inform people about the meeting but many of them are being removed shortly after being put up. NHW has been assured that posting these notices within a given timeframe of the meeting is legal and equally unauthorised removal of them is illegal.

The police have been informed and are asking the public for information. If you see anyone removing such a notice please report it to the police promptly on the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident number 282 of February 10.”
