“ONE too many” in the pub landed a man with a 12-month driving ban.

Stephen Clayton, 50, of Claypole Road, Stubton, admitted drink-driving in Claypole on the evening of February 21.

Jim Clare, prosecuting, said Clayton was speeding up and slowing down as he drove past a police officer.

A urine test at the police station gave a reading of 153. The legal limit is 107.

Chris Pye-Smith, defending, said Clayton, who had been driving since 1980, could lose his management job because of a disqualification.

He said: “It was a mistake on his part. He had been to the pub and probably had one too many.”

He was fined £530 with £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
