BURGLARS attempting a break-in at Grantham Snooker & Pool Club were caught red-handed by police on Christmas Eve.

The three men were caught in the act after setting off a burglar alarm at the St Peter’s Hill club at 2.10am on Christmas Eve.

The men were all still inside the club when police arrived to arrest them.

The burglars caused substantial damage to the club. Much of the damage was believed to have been caused as they tried to gain entry to an office through the ceiling.

Troy Jenkins, 36, of London Road, Nottingham, James Welsh, 35, of Lace Street, Nottingham and Richard Welsh, 42, of Egypt Road, Nottingham, all admitted burglary at Grantham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (Dec 27).

All the men must return to court on January 17 for sentencing.
