Police have named the cyclist who died in a collision with a car on Sunday morning as Timothy Alan Smith, aged 32, of Grantham.

An inquest will be opened in due course. It will be adjourned, with a date to be fixed, to allow police to complete their investigation into the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the High Dyke at Barkston Heath at 9.15am where a blue Mercedes car had been in collision with Mr Smith.

The driver of the car, a man in his fifties, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and later released on police bail. The road was closed until about 2pm while police carried out an investigation.

There is an appeal for witnesses to the collision or for anyone who was in the area of the High Dyke near Barkston Heath on Sunday morning who saw either the blue Mercedes or the cyclist before the collision or saw the collision itself to contact police on 101.
