Two people, including a police officer, were injured in a double assault carried out by a man in Grantham town centre.
Patrick Sawicki, of Wroxall Drive in Grantham, pleaded guilty to both assaults at Grantham Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Daniel Paulson, prosecuting, told magistrates how Sawicki, 30, was walking along Wharf Road on October 21 with a friend when he came across another man.
Mr Paulson said: “Mr Sawicki punched him, knocking him to the ground. Whilst on the ground, Mr Sawicki kicked out several times. Mr Sawicki was then pulled away by a friend and he walked away.”
The victim, who suffered a cut lip and swelling to the lip area, flagged down a passing police vehicle to report the attack.
Officers searched the area and found the defendant, who then fled. The officers caught up with Sawicki at Grantham Bus Station and as a female constable went to arrest him he hit out at her and caught the right-hand side of her face, causing jaw pain and a headache.
CS spray was used to bring Sawicki under control, the court heard. He was taken into custody.
Magistrates adjourned the case to today (Friday) to allow the Probation service time to compile a pre-sentence report.
Sawicki was granted unconditional bail.
