A DISTRICT councillor alerted police to a cannabis farm at an industrial unit after noticing a tell-tale sign.
Coun Mike Williams owns a business in Turnpike Close, Grantham, and noticed one of the other dozen or so units was the only one without snow on the roof. Suspicions were heightened by locks being changed and nobody coming or going during the day. When police raided the property in January they found a professional set-up - but all the cannabis had gone.
Coun Williams said: “They had put ventilation holes in the roof and walls and had specialist equipment everywhere.
“One of the police officers told me there must have been half-a-million pounds worth of cannabis there at one stage but it was all gone. But the police got all of the equipment and 50 bags of compost.”
