Police are seeking the driver of a car which hit a pedestrian on a zebra crossing in Grantham yesterday.

The driver of the hatchback is asked to contact police following the collision on the pedestrian crossing in High Street at 1.45pm.

The 56-year-old pedestrian was not seriously injured. He later attended Grantham hospital but was not admitted.

The pedestrian crossing is on the High Street near to the junction with Guildhall Street in Grantham.

Witnesses reported seeing a gold or silver coloured car, which is described as a hatchback model, drive over the crossing at the same time the crossing was being used by members of the public.

PC Kerry McNeill would like to hear from anyone that was in the area around 1.45pm on Monday who saw a gold or silver hatchback vehicle or who saw the collision on the pedestrian crossing. The area was busy at the time and it is thought there will be witnesses who can help with enquiries.

The driver of the vehicle or anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police via the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident 219 of May 11. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
