NITROUS oxide has been stolen from Grantham Hospital prompting a stark warning from police of the dangers of recreational use.
Six cylinders were taken some time during June 16-17 but the theft has only recently been reported to police.
A police spokesman said: “When used by professionals, the gas can be an effective means of pain relief. However, it is also known to be used for recreational purposes. In such circumstances the gas can be potentially dangerous, and could even prove fatal.”
The cylinders are around 4ft tall with a five- to six inch diameter. They are blue and clearly labelled as nitrous oxide.
