RIOTS which have affected numerous cities across the country have not been reported anywhere in Lincolnshire.

Lincolnshire Police sent 26 officers, to London on Monday night and also sent officers to Nottingham on Tuesday night.

Assistant Chief Constable Carl Langley said: “At present we are still not experiencing any incidents of public disorder in Lincolnshire related to this issue. We still have officers deployed in London assisting the Met, but our message to people in Lincolnshire is that it is very much business as usual in terms of our policing of the county.”

l A petition calling on all those convicted of rioting offences to lose benefit payments has passed 90,000 signatures. If it reaches 100,000 it will be referred to the backbench business committee of MPs. The petition website crashed due to high demand yesterday.
