Robbers attack man in Grantham street

Have your say

TWO friends were robbed as they walked back from a night out in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The victims, an 18-year-old man from Grantham and a 17-year-old girl from Newark, left Barcode, in Westgate, Grantham, at about 2am and were waiting for a group of friends in Avenue Road when two offenders approached them.

The offenders asked the victims for their possessions and when they refused the 18-year-old was punched in the face. He sustained cuts and bruises.

The robbers stole his wallet and mobile phone and the girl’s photocopied ID. Then they ran off.

The offenders, both men, were wearing dark hoodies which had white zips and ties to them.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen the victims, who were with a group of friends before the incident, walking to Avenue Road or who saw the suspects leaving the scene at pace.
