Police have renewed their appeal for information in missing 83-year-old Jack Foster as the search continues today.

Mr Foster, who is also known as Derek Foster, was last seen when he left Grantham Hospital on Tuesday (December 23) after treatment for a fractured shoulder. He left the hospital following an out-patient appointment and was supposed to go his home in Lilley Street, Long Bennington, but never arrived.

When he left hospital he was wearing a dark brown overcoat, dark trousers and shoes. He is described as a white man, with grey receeding hair, glasses, of slim build. He has a fractured left shoulder which means his left arm is incapacitated and he cannot move it. He has a distinctive gait due to his arm and his walk is described as a ‘shuffle’.

A Facebook page has been set up by friends and helpers who have been looking for Mr Foster in Bottesford. He was last seen at stand 5 in Grantham bus station where buses leave for Bottesford.

Today at noon people are due to meet at the Guildhall to continue the search in Grantham.

Mr Foster’s brother Cliff said on Facebook: “I am following everything closely with the police. This morning they are checking any use of Derek’s bus pass to see if it was scanned in, giving them any destination he may have made for. There has been a delay in getting this information over the holiday period. Once this is available we can see if he left Grantham by bus. Taxis have all been checked out. I am waiting to hear the result of this check and as soon as I do I will add another post. Meanwhile my heartfelt thanks to all who have shown concern for Derek’s welfare and enlisted for searches. If nothing shows on records for Derek’s bus pass he could not have left Grantham town centre by his own efforts. I will keep you up to date with everything I hear from the police. Once again my thanks to Alice and many other people who have devoted time to this extensive search. The police have made strenuous efforts. As you can imagine things have been complicated by the Christmas break. We are hoping the picture becomes clearer today.”

If you have seen Mr Foster or a man matching his description contact Lincolnshire Police on the non-emergency number 101.
