Strike excuse is rejected by court

A WOMAN who did not show up for her court case blamed the industrial action.

Kerry Askew, of Uplands Drive, Grantham, was due to appear in court to face three charges of shop theft relating to the alleged theft of goods worth more than £200 from Peacocks, TK Maxx and Homebase.

However, Askew, 30, contacted the court to say she would not be able to attend because of the strike action. She said she would need to stay home to look after her children.

However, her excuse was rejected by magistrates who issued a warrant for her arrest.
