A TEENAGE Lithuanian national appeared in court on his birthday and left £173 out of pocket.

Kostas Matkevicius of Welham Street, Grantham, admitted a public order offence.

Magistrates heard a group left a restaurant in London Road to find Matkevicius and another man lying in the road in Cambridge Street in front of their car.

When Matkevicius and his friend were asked to leave, they became aggressive. Matkevicius, 19, approached one of the men from behind and tried to punch him in the back of the head before being restrained.

Matkevicius, who is unemployed and lives at home with his mother, told the court he was too drunk to remember what happened.

He was fined £73 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a £15 surcharge.
