A NOTTINGHAM man was caught trying to steal perfumes and aftershave worth more than £200 from the Downtown superstore in Grantham.

Raymond Newton, 47, of Carlton Hill, Carlton, Nottingham, admitted theft after setting off the alarms in the store as he tried to leave with bottles hidden inside his waistband.

Mr Jahal, defending, blamed Newton’s actions on losing his job and wanting to provide gifts for his family.

He said: “He was under emotional pressure and financial pressure because of his work.”

Sentencing was adjourned until a later date for reports to be compiled.
