Woman sexually assaulted in Grantham town centre - police searching for scarred attacker

A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in Grantham town centre by a man who pulled her into a side street.

The 26-year-old woman left Barcode in Westgate at 2.10am in the early hours of Saturday morning (Jan 29) and walked down Westgate before turning into Guildhall Street. She was then grabbed by the arm her attacker, who pulled her into Blue Court and sexually assaulted her.

The attacker is described as of Middle-Eastern in appearance with dark skin, medium build, between 27 and 30 years of age and between 5’ 6” and 5’ 8” in height.

He was wearing a smart, dark coloured jacket with a hood up over his head with drawstrings pulled tight around his face.

It was pulled so tight that part of his forehead and his chin were covered but the victim noticed he had a scratch mark or scar on the outer side of his right eye socket.

Police would like to speak to anyone:

- who was on Westgate near to the 90 Degrees nightclub at the time

- walking up and down Guildhall Street prior to and after the incident

- who may have noticed someone suspicious hanging around in Blue Court shortly before the incident

- who may have seen the offender and victim together at approximately 2.15am hours

- who can identify the offender through the description given.
