Distraction burglars steal £1,700 from house in Grantham

Two men claiming to be from Anglian Water have stolen £1,700 after being allowed into a house in Grantham.

The distraction burglary took place in Queensway at around 6.30pm yesterday (December 17).

The occupant of the house opened the door to the men who claimed they needed to check the taps due to a burst pipe. The occupant, a woman, let the men in. The men then left the property and the occupant checked the house to find £1,700 had been taken from a safe.

There were two men involved but only one can be described by the victim. He was around 5ft 8", of stocky build, aged late 20s to early 30s with fair hair.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the Queensway area between 6pm and 7pm on December 17 or were visited by these men, schould call the police on 101, quoting incident number 432 of December 17.
