Police officers were joined by a dog unit and helicopter in their search of illegal immigrants on Monday morning, after a group was seen jumping out of an articulated lorry on the A1 near Grantham.

There was a heavy police presence near the Gonerby Moor roundabout at around 11am, as officers and dogs searched for around 20 people.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police said all the illegal immigrants were found and detained.

The driver of the lorry was arrested on suspicion of assisting unlawful entry to the UK.
