Piping will take over from pumps at Grantham Fire Station tomorrow (May 28), with a baking competition and cake sale raising money for firefighters and their families.
The best amateur bakers in the Grantham area are being asked to submit their cakes, as part of The Fire Fighters Charity nationwide ‘Bake a Difference’ competition.
A judging panel including Grantham’s newly appointed Mayor Linda Wootten and her consort Councillor Ray Wootten, as well as Karen Guest, community champion from Asda, will rate the bakes in terms of taste and design, and the overall winner will then be entered into the national competition for their chance to win the coveted ‘Golden Rolling Pin’, awarded by GBBO contestant, and London firefighter, Mat Riley.
Those wishing to submit an entry need to bring their bakes into the fire station at 10.30am, ahead of the main event starting at 11am.
There will also be a cake sale to raise funds for the charity.
Entrants should call Laura Harden on 07798 725560 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
