'Drop-in' session to be held in Grantham as part of post office consultation
The Post Office will be holding a ‘drop-in session’ as part of its consultation on the proposal to close the Grantham branch and move its services to WHSmith.
The forum will be held on Wednesday, February 20, at the Jubilee Church Life Centre, 5 London Road, Grantham, from 3pm to 7pm, with people welcome to attend at any point between those times.
The proposal is to move the Post Office to WHSmith, 49-51 High Street, Grantham. The branch would be run by WHSmith, with extended opening hours, including Saturday afternoons and Sundays.
Under the proposals, the services at the new branch would remain the same with the exception of a cash machine. Services available will include everyday banking for the UK’s high street banks, online shopping returns and collections and foreign exchange. The Post Office would have three serving positions.
Post Office Network and Sales Director Roger Gale said: “We believe our proposal is the most effective way to secure the long term viability of Post Office services for years to come.”
The public consultation on the proposal will run until March 6, 2019. It is proposed to open the new branch in June 2019.
