A Grantham nursery is celebrating after being graded ‘outstanding’ following a recent Ofsted inspection.
Great Wood Farm Early Years Centre in Ponton Road, Boothby Pagnell, has been rated as ‘outstanding’ across the board in its most recent Ofsted inspection conducted on August 17.
Charlotte Spencer, from Great Wood Farm Early Years Centre said: “We are extremely pleased with our Ofsted result. We all work so hard as a team to provide the best possible care for the children and have been given great support from all of the parents.
“In the feedback from the inspector, she told us ‘we were outstanding of the outstanding’.”
Three key areas were noted as ‘outstanding’ in the report including how well the early years provision meets the needs of the range of children who attend, the contribution of the early years provision to the well-being of children and the effectiveness of the leadership and management of the early years provision.
Other key findings that were summarised in the report included praise for the forest school area, stating: “Children benefit from excellent, hands-on-learning experiences as they explore the forest school area. They hunt for snails, spiders and bugs. As a result, they demonstrate an exceptionally good understanding of the natural world and growth and development. They learn how to light fires and be safe around them.”
Also highlighted was the ‘strong focus’ on helping children to acquire language skills, preparing them for the next stage in their learning.
The only improvement that was recommended in the report was “to consider using more creative methods to more actively engage and fully involve all parents in their child’s learning.”
