A RUGBY player who was paralysed in an accident on the pitch was the guest of honour at a recent sports day at Denton Primary School.
Leicester Tigers and England Under 21’s player Matt Hampson dislocated his neck in training in 2005 and was paralysed from the neck down.
Since then he has become known throughout the country for his inspirational attitude in the face of aadversity.
He joined pupils at Denton School for their sports day and presided over the presentation of winners medals and trophies. Headteacher Sheri Edwards said: “Matt is an inspiration to us all and the children have thoroughly enjoyed meeting him and having him amongst us”.
