A grant of £648,000 has been received by King’s School to build a new sports hall at Arnoldsfield in Grantham.

King’s School headmaster Frank Hedley said the school was absolutely delighted with the news. He said it was “third time lucky” because the school had applied twice before for the grant from the Department of Education while he has been King’s headmaster.

King’s will put £80,000 towards the new building which Mr Hedley said was due to be finished by March 2015.

Mr Hedley said: “It’s great for the boys at the school because they are great sportsmen and this opens up many more opportunities for them.

“We have a very small gym here so to have a new sports hall, the equivalent of four badminton courts, is a much-needed facility. It also means we have a much-needed all-weather facility.”
