OUT-going Grantham Mayor Rob Hearmon made a generous donation to King’s School during his last day.

Councillor Hearmon visited the Grantham school to hand over a cheque for £500, which will go into the school’s fund to replace a Collyweston roof on the old school library.

Bursar Peter Kirkbride accepted the cheque. He said: “We are extremely grateful for any donations towards the library roof appeal, but this one is particularly special as it marks the end of Coun Hearmon’s term of office as mayor.

“We appreciate the support he has shown to the school during this time.”

The Grade I listed building is steeped in history, with pupils through the centuries leaving their marks engraved into the stone window sills. One such former pupil is Sir Isaac Newton.
