Grantham College has teamed up with Grantham Football Club to launch Gingerbreads Soccer School for children aged six to 12.
On Saturday, the new branding was revealed with all coaches wearing the distinctive black polo shirts with the school logo, plus additional banners around the Grantham Town stadium.
It marked the start of a six-week course where the children can enjoy the atmosphere of training in the stadium in a fun environment while learning new football skills.
The football club’s chief executive Keith Horton said: “We are very pleased to now be able to formally launch the initiative along with our partners Grantham College.
“We would be particularly pleased and are positively encourage the participation of girls in the soccer school. Sadly, girls’ attendance has not been as high as we would like and certainly have ambitions to see girls making up 50 per cent percent of the participants before the end of the year.”
Laura Taylor, marketing and media officer at Grantham College, said: “Grantham College are very pleased to not only be the official sponsors of the soccer school but to have had one of our BTEC Extended Diploma in Digital Design and Graphics, Sara Harper, create the official logo for the soccer school. We wish all participants the best of luck in gaining new skills, getting active and meeting new friends and look forward to seeing you all at the presentation evening.”
All participants will be invited to a December presentation evening where they will be presented with a t-shirt, water bottle and certificate recognising their participation.
Sessions are held every Saturday commencing at 10.30am at the stadium, Trent Road, Grantham. Run by qualified FA coaches and cost only £4 per session or £20 for six sessions.
