Two Nottingham Forest players opened the new gym at Ambergate Sports College in Grantham this afternoon.
Jack Hobbs and Andy Reid were there to cut the ribbon and open the gym which cost £20,000, raised over the last 18 months. The facilities are open to all pupils in the Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship (GANF).
The Children and staff have been involved in fund-raising together with community groups. Pupils have held numerous cake sales and book sales to raise funds. Staff have donated money from outside projects and two teaching assistants even swam the English Channel to help raise money for the project. GANF has also been granted National Lottery money.
The finished gym includes three interactive Row-Prow Concept II rowers, three adapted Fusion R Cycles, a fully interactive Cardio Wall, three Pro Fit exercise balls, a matted area and a punch bag.
Speaking to the Journal at the opening, Forest defender Jack said: “It’s brilliant. We find a lot of joy in doing our gym work at training and its great for them to have these facilities here to do this. You can see they absolutely love it.”
