NINE students from Walton Girls’ High School made their mark on the Lincolnshire fashion scene recently, winning a handful awards.

Faculty Co-ordinator for creative Arts Lynsay Volley was delighted with the girls’ success for their work at the Fashion Academy run by CfBT Education Trust.

She said: “I’m thrilled and very proud of the students’ successes as a group and individually. The Fashion Academy is an inspirational programme which matches Walton’s desire to encourage, promote and celebrate students’ achievements. We develop fabulous working relationships with our students and endeavour to facilitate their ideas and goals.”

The brief was to design, make and model a garment in response to the theme - Best of British. The awards won included; The Achievement Award, The Best Interpretation of the Theme and Best Fashion Image.

Jessica Haxby, 17, and Kirsty Shaw, 16, thought it was an excellent opportunity.

Jessica said: “The show really pushes you out of your comfort zone and tests your confidence but builds to a great sense of achievement, and increased the bond between our group as we worked together.”
