Elvis act returns to Ingoldsby church for gala weekend
After a successful event brought the music of Elvis Presley to Ingoldsby’s St Batholomew Church last August, his rock and roll classics will be returning for another fund-raising gala weekend on June 5, 6 and 7.
Acclaimed Elvis singer Nick Pacey (pictured inset) and tribute band The Roustabouts will once again perform at the church from 7.30pm on Saturday, June 6. There will be refreshments including a selection of real ales, and a raffle. Tickets cost £5 and are available by contacting organisr Robin Burrows on 01476 585513 or on the door.
The gala is in aid of ongoing work to the church. From 7pm on Friday, June 5 there will be a social night where attendees will be updated on the progress so far. Sunday, June 7 will see a traditional church fete from 2pm to 4pm.
The project is also being partly funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The aim is to complete essential repairs to the 15th Century church, including to one of the aisles and repointing work. Fund-raisers also hope to install a kitchenette and toilets. Villager Jeffery Kenyon is among those involved. He said: “It will be lovely to see it as a venue which the whole community can use as well as for those who attend church.”
