Emma Thompson turns 100 with party at Grantham retirement home

Emma Thompson celebrated her 100th birthday with family and staff at the Birchwood Retirement Home, Grantham on Saturday.

Originally from Stamford Street, Grantham, she married George Thompson, the village butchers at Great Gonerby where she lived into her nineties. Emma had three children - Joyce and Colin (pictured) and Brian, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A birthday card and congratulations were received from the Queen.
