WOODLAND in the Grantham area is safe from being sold off following the findings of a report published this week.
Ancient forest such as Ingoldsby Wood was at risk of being sold as part of Government plans to sell 15 per cent of the country’s public estate.
However, the Government has backed down after the publishing of the Independent Panel on Forestry’s final report on Tuesday.
Grantham-based Woodland Trust had launched a petition against the plans. Policy director Hilary Allison said the organisation is “delighted” by the U-turn.
