Expensive wigs and 50 inch flat screen TV among items left behind in Grantham hotels
Travelodge has revealed the strange list of items that customers at its three Grantham area hotels leave behind in the rooms when they check out.
Among the items forgotten by customers are a set of books on a breed of bird, a Brand new iPhone 6 in a sealed box, a lucky horseshoe, a 50 inch flat screen TV and a case of expensive wigs.
With 17 million people annually staying in the 500 UK Travelodge hotels, some of the belongings that have been left behind in Grantham include more than £200 worth of money saving coupons, a brand new iPhone 6 in sealed box and a set of books on the peregrine falcons at its Gonerby Moor hotel, a lucky horseshoe and a 50 inch flat screen smart TV at its A1 Colsterworth site and a case of expensive wigs, a gigantic personalised cookie and a case of toys from the Disney movie Frozen at its A1 South Witham hotel.
Across the UK, some of the more bizarre items include a Coutts cheque book, a husband, a Krypton Digital storm gaming laptop, a prosthetic hand, a love letter written 40 years ago and a pug called Dancer.
Travelodge spokeswoman Shakila Ahmed said: “As a result of Travelodge changing for a new modern look and feel, more new business customers and families have been staying across our 500 UK-based hotels. Therefore, this year’s lost and found inventory list has revealed some new unique items being left behind, such as a Coutts cheque book, a business contract for an online company, an antique dolls house, a child’s Porsche car, a Star Wars Storm Trooper outfit and a feng shui aquarium.
“Our 2014 left behind register also revealed how much smart technology has become a part of our everyday lives, as we have had 12,000 tablets and smartphones left behind in our hotels in the last 12 months. This is a significant increase from previous years.
“What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”
Listed below are the top ten items left behind in Travelodge hotels in Grantham during 2014:
· Chargers for mobile phones and electronic devices such as laptops

All items left behind in Travelodge hotels which have not been claimed within three months are donated to local charity shops.
