Popular local groups and solo artists will be providing a night of live music later this month to raise money for Grantham Carnival and other events in the town.

From an award winning choir and solo vocalists to a newly formed big band, the Made in Grantham evening promises the best of the best in local music.

It is to be held at The Guildhall Arts Centre on Saturday, March 22 and will feature a diverse range of music from Premier Cru, Yvonne Rivers, Nigel Truman, St John’s Choir, Terry Carey and the Grantham Rhythm and Blues Band.

The evening, which starts at 7.30pm, has been organised by the Grantham Carnival and Events Group.

Tickets, priced £12, are available from the Guildhall box office on 01476 406158, or you can book on line at www.guildhallarts

Chairman of the carnival and events group, Roy Wright, said: “It should be an excellent night. I think the mix of music is fantastic, there is something for everyone.

“We decided to call the evening Made in Grantham to reflect that it features local bands and artists. What we are now hoping for is good support to make it a big success.

“We would like to raise around £500, so the more support we get on the night the better. The money is vital to ensure that we can continue to stage events like the carnival.”

The Carnival and Events Group has the St George’s Day Parade at the end of April and then the carnival itself will take place on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15. This year’s carnival theme is pantomimes and nursery rhymes.

Roy added: “We are very happy with the way preparations for this year’s carnival are going.

“We have already had a fair amount of interest from people wanting to have floats in the parade but we won’t know exact numbers until the forms have gone out.”
