ONE of Grantham’s most popular characters died at the weekend. He was 69.

John ‘Trousers’ Truesdale was an electrician with Grantham Electrical for many years, before his retirement.

Pre-retiring, he was often seen changing lights and making repairs in Morrison’s while chatting to customers.

He was a keen fan of rock ‘n’ roll especially local star Vince Eager, with whom he was great friends. He was a keen sportsman and in his younger days played for Beeden Park, the area where he was brought up.

Grantham will be the poorer without him.

Former Journal news editor John Pinchbeck said: “If they gave out MBEs just for being a nice bloke, John would have been awarded a dukedom.”

The funeral service is at 2pm on Wednesday 10th October at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.
