Crews were called to a fire in the basement of a block of flats in Great Ponton last night.

Firefighters from Grantham, Corby Glen and Sleaford tackled the fire at the flats just off the A1. The call was made at 10.10pm.

There was fire damage in the basement and smoke damage to the rest of the building. Firefighters put out the fire using eight breathing apparatus and two hose reels. A spokesman for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
