Former Grantham King’s student in running for investment from Sir Richard Branson

A former King’s School student is in the running to win investment for his furniture design business from Virgin tycoon Sir Richard Branson.

Alex Swain, 37, is taking part in the Pitch to Rich competition for the chance to win a share of £1 million investment.

Alex set up his furniture design business ByALEX after graduating with an MA in Graphic Design, and has enjoyed success after selling his stylish ‘A’ stool to John Lewis before developing a whole range of such furniture.

He is hoping to secure a £250,000 advertising campaign by winning in the Grow category of the Pitch to Rich competition, but needs public votes to do so. As such Alex has made a pitch video in which he explains his concept of consumer-led design. which is available to watch by clicking here.

You can also vote on the website, with the deadline for the first round being Monday. If ByALEX is within the top 50, he will have the chance to progress to the semi-finals.
