Former Grantham woman wanted by police for no-show in court

A former Grantham woman is wanted by police for failing to attend court.

Mary Jane Jones, now of Abbotts Close, Stamford, failed to appear at Lincoln Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

She is wanted in connection with a common assault, drunk and disorderly behaviour, handling stolen goods, shop theft, outraging public decency, a dangerous dog offence and begging.

Jones was in the news in 2010, then aged 21, when she was attacked in Grantham Library by a man who tried to set her on fire.

Later described in court as a stalker, the man was wrestled to the floor by library staff as he poured lighter fluid on Jones and attempted to light it with matches and a lighter.

The 66-year-old attacker was later jailed after admitting attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Anyone with information on Jones’ whereabouts should call Lincolnshire Police on 101.
