FORMER ITN newshound Michael Nicholson was keynote speaker at RAF Cranwell during an aviation symposium.

Part of a series of aviation events which have taken place across North Kesteven to boost tourism, the symposium was attended by guests from across the country.

Mr Nicholson is highly regarded as a foreign correspondant and he reported for ITN for more than 25 years. During that time, he covered more wars and conflicts than any other British newsman. He holds the Falklands and Gulf Campaign medals, and was awarded an OBE in 1991.

Further guest speakers at the symposium last Wednesday included a fighter pilot and RAF Cranwell group captain Dave Waddington, who spoke of his time spent as a Prisoner of War in Iraq.
