Residents at Belvoir House care home on Brownlow Street are appealing for information after their garden gnome was stolen on Wednesday night.

The 3ft gnome was going to be the key focal feature in their new sensory garden, which is being officially opened at their open day on Monday.

Senior activities co-ordinator Richard Geldard can’t believe its been taken.

He said: “Our residents have dementia and so we’ve been fundraising all year to create a sensory garden for them to enjoy.

“We even held a ‘name the gnome’ party on Wednesday and planned to pull his name out of a hat at the open day.

“We bought the gnome out of the residents’ fund for £30. Asda have got one left but with the rest of the money needed to purchase more plants, there isn’t enough funds left to purchase another by Monday.”

If anyone can help or has any information, contact Richard on 01476 565454 as soon as possible.
