Staff and pupils at Walton Girls’ High School and Sixth Form are celebrating following a successful Ofsted visit.

The Ofsted report has found much to praise including the ‘effective care and support of pupils’, the ‘pupils achievement’ and ‘behaviour and attendance as key strengths of the academy’.

The report goes on the say how pupils ‘enjoy their time at the academy’ and how the atmosphere is ‘positive and extremely welcoming’. Pupils ‘enjoy and value’ the opportunities beyond the classroom and leaders in the academy are tenacious and focus on the continuous improvement of pupils’ achievement.

The report also mentions that pupil data is ‘accurate and rigorous’ and has a ‘clear and positive impact upon pupils’ progress’.

Ofsted also had praise for the sixth form, where students receive a ‘high level of support’ and the proportion who progress to higher education is at the national average.

Walton’s principal, Caroline Saxelby said: “We are extremely pleased and proud of the Ofsted ‘good’ judgement as it is testimony to the relentless hard work that is consistent across the Academy.

“The report recognises that Walton is a thriving, high achieving academy, which is moving forward at a rapid pace.

“It is an exciting time for Walton as we move ever closer towards achieving outstanding status in all areas of academy life.

“Our core values are excellence, commitment, ownership and courage; these were not only displayed during the Ofsted visit, but are values that we operate by on a daily basis.”
