A former Grantham woman who staged two bank robberies in the town has been cleared of fraud charges after the prosecution offered no evidence against her at Lincoln Crown Court.

Nicola Lehair, 30, formerly of Goodliff Road, Grantham, and now living in Ashford, Kent, had denied five charges of fraud alleged to have been committed on dates between November 2011 and May 2014.

Alex Young, for the prosecution, said that the complainant, Lehair’s estranged husband, has withdrawn his support for the prosecution, citing health grounds.

Mr Young said: “The Crown take the view that it would not be right to take the case to trial. The complainant in this case is her estranged husband. He wants nothing more to do with her and the thought of coming back to court to deal with this matter is not one which appeals to him.”

Lehair was jailed for two years in June last year after she admitted charges of robbery and attempted robbery after staging two bank raids in Grantham. She has since been released from jail and has moved to live in Kent.
