Nicholas Parsons, the 90-year-old Grantham-born radio and TV personality, has been named in the New Year Honours list for his charity work.
Mr Parsons, who will receive a CBE, is best known for his years as question master of TV quiz Sale Of The Century and for his role as host of Radio 4’s Just A Minute which he has presented since it began in 1967. He has also played numerous comedy and straight roles on TV and radio.
He said: “I think it’s a very nice honour - I’m flattered and I’m delighted. I think honours are a wonderful thing to receive if you have worked hard and that is recognised. I don’t understand these people who are pompous and say they don’t want it.”
