Grantham Brantano shoe store still open but jobs under threat

The Brantano show store in Grantham remains under threat of closure despite many stores around the country being saved.

Adminstrators for the company have managed to sell 140 stores and concessions, saving 1,372 jobs, but the Grantham store is one of 58 which have not been sold.

The store, on the Sankt Augustin Retail Park, remains open while administrators try to find a buyer. It employs 10 people.

Tony Barrell, lead administrator, said: “We continue to trade the remaining Brantano business whilst discussions with interested parties continue. Unfortunately, in the event further sales are not possible, redundancies will become inevitable. We are working closely with Brantano employees and offering every support possible through this difficult period.”

Administrators sold the 140 shops to a company controlled by Alteri Investors.
