Grantham Canal Society has two events coming up, starting with Lincolnshire Heritage Open Day on September 9.

Pop along on the day and enjoy a short trip on the society’s narrowboat The Three Shires.

All trips take place between 10.30am to 4.00pm and only cost £3 for adults and £2 for children. Trips depart from Lock 18 near The Rutland Arms (Dirty Duck) Pub, Duck Lane, Woolsthorpe by Belvoir, NG32 1NY.

On October 9, the society is hosting a Discovery Day. As well as running boat trips on the narrowboat, there will be family entertainment which includes music, dancing, barbecue and many side stalls with local produce on offer.

A highlight of the day will be the “Dirty Duck Race” which is somewhat unique on the UK canal system. Refreshments are available in the carpenter’s shop, just past the pub. Go down and see the amazing progress that volunteers have made at Lock 15, Woolsthorpe Middle Lock, which is being totally rebuilt.
