The council car park on St Catherine’s Road will close for up to three weeks in preparation for Grantham’s new multiplex cinema.

The car park is used by staff at South Kesteven District Council but is open to the public in the evenings and at weekends. It will be closed from Friday, June 16, for archaeological exploration which is expected to take two to three weeks.

SKDC says it then hopes to reopen the car park, to the rear of the Tollemache Inn, to the public pending the next major site work.

Motorists are being encouraged to use the nearby Welham Street multi-storey car park.

Plans for the new cinema include five screens, restaurants and office space.
