Clean and Green: CCTV in University Square

Cameras in a Grantham neighbourhood are continuing to help drive down litter and fly-tipping in the area.

South Kesteven District Council installed CCTV in an alleyway in the University Square in the town between College Street and Cambridge Street early in 2014, one of many steps taken as part of the Grantham Clean and Green partnership between the council and Journal.

SKDC’s business manager for neighbourhoods Mark Jones said: “Working with residents to try and make the location cleaner and installing the cameras as deterrents to drop litter or fly-tip household items, has had a positive impact.

“Long term there is still work to do to ensure cleaner standards are maintained. We thank residents and landlords for their efforts to date to clear up this previous fly-tipping spot.”

Anyone who witnesses fly-tipping should call 01476 406080 or email ehs@southkesteven.gov.uk
