Grantham College awards its star students




Grantham College celebrated its star students and staff at an annual awards ceremony.

More than 300 people attended the event, which celebrates the achievements of students, family, friends, staff, governors and sponsors.

Chair of corporation Mos Kalbassi also received a signature award to mark the end of his 28 years’ service at the college.

New chair of governors Amanda Mosek opened the evening and welcomed Tim Radley, a former student and owner of Smart Money Solutions, to the stage as guest speaker. Tim spoke about his time at the college and how it helped him pursue his dream career.

Principal and chief executive Paul Deane and assistant principal Dr Steven Peacock then welcomed all award winners to the stage and refreshed everyone’s memories with news from the past academic year including the opening of the University Centre and a successful Institute of Technology bid.

Gracie Edwards was crowned winner of Student of the Year, animal care lecturer Christine Howe won the staff award nominated by students and learning development functional skills lecturer Helen Maughan won the staff award after being nominated by fellow colleagues. Work Experience Placement Provider of the Year went to Grantham Truck Services.

As main sponsor of the evening, Oldrids & Downtown’s head of HR John Rogers and store manager and college governor Natalie Skins presented each of the six special award winners with personalised hampers.
